One servicemember’s life is too many.

If you need assistance, call 1-800-273-TALK (8255). Don’t wait. Please.

From one Vet to another, you matter.

Reblogging. One Vet to another.

Not a vet, but I had no idea.

Why are we not taking better care of their psychological health? After the traumatic shit they go through and see for OUR political bullshit and safety, they deserve better. :/

The resources are there, but the problem lies in when they return from War and are screened (and they ARE offered every service during the return phase), they can still claim to be fine and have no symptoms, unless they are showing outward reactions, they can simply say “no” to all the right questions, and go on with their lives, denying there is a problem until it’s too late, and it’s too much for them to handle alone.

The fault lies with a stigma, because for a very long time, going for help was looked at as a possible threat to your career, it isn’t now, things have changed and they cannot use seeking treatment as a basis to judge. But that message is a hard one to get across. Because there’s another stigma at work, and it isn’t military specific. It’s feeling like you’re admitting weakness.

AS for the disparity in numbers up there^ Army has the most, because they have the most troops fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan, and the largest force in general (though maybe 2nd to the Navy)

Wow.

…I’m really, quite honestly, speechless.

Reblogging for the phone number up there.

This is something quite unbelievable to see here…

Happy Halloween (or Helloween…or whatever).

Hope everyone enjoyed their Halloween weekends and Halloween holiday today.  In light of the holiday, I like to think back of my previous costumes that made Halloween fun:

1.  Kanye West (placed in the photo above…and just am not a Kanye West fan, period.)

2.  Prince

3.  Stevie Wonder…

God after that there hasn’t been huge hits on Halloween costumes.  Hope next year I think of better ideas.

Happy Halloween!

Yeah, it’s been awhile since I’ve posted something on the BLOG.  It’s also been awhile since I painted one of these.  Makes sense to put the two together now…

This dish I came across last night while hanging around with my friend, Dave in the East Village.  Though there are many dishes to view and drool over here, the one dish I want to focus in is the set of dumplings closest to the picture.

These dumplings are called “sweetie pie” dumplings: pumpkin filled dumplings that are coated in honey and sweetened condensed milk, and topped off with cinnamon sprinkled on to tie it all together.

When I first took a bite into this dish, all I can say is: “Where the f@!# did this dish come from???”  The simple answer is where this dish is created “Dumpling Man” (Dave says “from heaven”).  But I know it’s more than that.  I have never had this dish before.  And it is just so f@!T$% good.

And I ask again…where the f@#^% did this dish come from??  Because I can eat 3 lbs of these dumplings any day of the week.

So that post of the cabronara I posted here on this blog?  I forgot to add one extra ingredient that really completes this dish: pancetta.  It really makes a difference.  This is what a real cabronara looks like (and on a side note…thank you Anthony Bourdain).

How good does this dish look?  Yes…you love it.  It’s damn “drooling” good.  Simple Italian dish to make.  Fettucini, egg, olive oil, parmesean, garlic, onions, pepper and pancetta (if you have it).

Makes me think of many things when making this dish.  Bon appetito.

This is something Mom would be proud of.  Trying to recreate one of my favorite sweet dishes: pineapple casserole.  To add something more on the salty side, Minnesota wild rice.

This is a take on the trading floor and how the financial markets work. Using the two animal iconic symbols that represent buy and sell (or prices rising and declining), it can be meant as a reaction to the market over the last three years. Or, using the colour schemes used here, it can be the battles that both parties in Congress go through on a daily basis since Obama got elected in 2008.
